Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is potash?

Potash is a general term for potassium-rich minerals and fertilizer products, most commonly muriate of potash (potassium chloride) and sulfate of potash (potassium sulfate), used to supply the potassium crops need to grow.

What's the difference between muriate of potash (MOP) and sulfate of potash (SOP)?

MOP is the more common, generally lower-cost potassium source and is widely used on row crops. SOP contains sulfate instead of chloride, making it preferred for chloride-sensitive or high-value specialty crops. Which fits your situation depends on the crop and soil — ask us when you request a rate sheet.

What is potash used for besides farming?

Beyond agriculture, potassium compounds derived from potash are used in glass manufacturing, soaps and detergents, and various chemical manufacturing processes.

How do I get current potash pricing?

Complete the buyer form and we'll send you our current rate sheet for products and services. We don't publish prices on this site since they change.

Can suppliers list on this site?

Yes. Potash producers, distributors, blenders, brokers and traders can create a free profile in the directory. Listing is optional — buyers can also request a rate sheet directly.

What happens after I request the rate sheet?

Your request is reviewed personally and the current rate sheet for products and services is sent to you directly.

Is Potash Services a producer or trading platform?

No. Potash Services is an educational and buyer-connection resource. It does not itself mine, process or guarantee supply of potash.
